How the article got published: This was my second GQ article. I pitched this as “Weight loss expectations are ruining your progress,” along with two other pitches in the same email. I hadn’t heard back for a couple weeks.

Thinking that it had been a bust, I moved on, but the editor got back to me, asking for more details. And that was that.
